Nakshatra in its Rashi Environment
This nakshatra lies entirely within Dhanus (Sagittarius, fire element, the dharma trine). The fire element of this sign adds knowledge to Mula's investigative power.
The nakshatra lord is 'Ketu' and the sign lord is 'Jupiter'. Ketu is the significator of liberation and Jupiter of knowledge. The combination of the two gives the highest spiritual elevation. In worldly life (money, family), however, it may produce some detachment.
The beginning of Sagittarius (the 1st pada of Mula) is a Gandanta point. This junction, where the water sign (Scorpio) ends and the fire sign (Sagittarius) begins, marks the most crucial and most difficult stage in the evolution of the soul.
